Goodbye Vivi…

A good friend of mine in Beijing, Vivi, passed away 2 days ago. I have been meaning to write something about her in here, but I didn’t know what to say. The past few days have been like a bad dream, and I keep wishing when I wake up all of these are not real!

It’s just last week when Vivi came to my going-away party and did a really wonderful job taking photos during the party. It was also her birthday too! And it’s just two days ago that we all went together to the Temple of Heaven. Today, we were supposed to travel back to Indonesia together too!

This is just too sudden!

I am not gonna write too much details of what happened to her. Firstly because it’s too painful to re-tell the events once again after telling many people of what happened to Vivi. And secondly, the cause of death is not clear. We are still waiting for the results from the medical examiner.

My last few days in Beijing were spent helping to relay information to Vivi’s relatives. I was one of the first people to know about Vivi’s death, and I also was the one who had to call her parents. Giving them the bad news are the worst thing that I had ever done in my life.

I can’t imagine what her family must go through because I have the feeling that it will be a very long process before her body can be brought back to Indonesia. I cried twice that night, yeah I’m weak inside….

To all of you, please take a moment to send a prayer for Vivi and her family during this difficult time.

Vivi, thanks for all the beautiful memories and the good times we shared together in China. Seeing your happy face always gave me a smile on my face! I hope you had a wonderful time during your one year in China as much as I do (minus all the frozen spits you saw on the ground everyday, the BAD toilets, and the rude people). You will always be in our memory… Goodbye my friend!
